Learn how colonists—and their slaves—observed Christmas in the backcountry. Famed storyteller Kitty Wilson-Evans will be here to share her wisdom.

Father Christmas is portrayed by Max Schram.

Throughout time and cultures, he is known by various names such as Santa Claus, Pere Noel, Sinter Klaas, or Kris Kringle, among others. Christmas traditions and celebrations varied throughout the colonial communities, usually as a result of the cultures of their citizens. Father Christmas, better known to many as St. Nicholas, looks forward to meeting with all those who love the true Spirit of Christmas and the joy the season can bring. He will be dressed as in ages past, in his traditional Victorian coat and cap. He will be found in the comforts of the community at the Living History Park, North Augusta, SC.

"I will be bringing candy canes for my visitors, and be available for photos by parents. The low-keyed emphasis will be on the joys of sharing Christmas with the gift of presence, not presents."

Christmas for the Birds

What's it About?

Please join us at the Living History Park as we remember the birds at Christmas time.

We will host a party on Saturday the 1st of December from 10 am to 2 pm to create decorations for the birds to eat throughout the winter!

Please bring apples, oranges, peanut butter for the birds and food for our 4 legged friends (dog and cats) to be given to the local pet adoptions centers. Or just bring yourself and the children to share the joy of creating and giving gifts at Christmas. Cider and cookies will be served and story time will be held at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, and 1:30. Lots of fun and food for all!
